Construction on 613-Room The Westin Anaheim Resort in Southern California to Begin in September

The hotel, to open besides the Anaheim Convention Center in 2020, will create 500 jobs and help strengthen the city’s convention business

Anaheim, CALIF. —Construction this month will commence on the 7-story, 613-room Westin Anaheim Resort, setting the stage to provide Anaheim with new, upscale accommodations and meeting space adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center. Owner-developer Wincome Group is building the $245 million-dollar project immediately beside the Anaheim Convention Center’s (ACC) soon-to-open expansion and directly across from the Disneyland Resort. It will rise on the site of the Anabella Hotel, which had also been a Wincome Group property for almost 20 years. “We are thrilled to work with Wincome Group on this exciting project in the high-profile Anaheim market,” said Noah Silverman, Chief Development Officer, North America Full Service Hotels at Marriott International. “This hotel is a true milestone for the brand, since it will be the first newly built Westin in Southern California in more than 25 years.”

The Westin hotel construction project is expected to create nearly 2,000 construction jobs. Preference for Anaheim residents, Orange County residents and military veterans will be given for the construction positions. Once open, the hotel is expected to employ over 400 people.

Wincome Group, is a privately owned real estate developer based in Anaheim, California, has had a long history of investing across the United States. In addition to the Westin development, Wincome also currently owns the Anaheim Hotel on Harbor Boulevard and has been an investor in the Anaheim market since 1988 with the acquisition of the 133 room Carousel Inn & Suites. Wincome’s investment strategy is focused on long term focused growth and value through improvements to assets and bringing new and exciting guests experiences to Anaheim.

“What we enjoy is taking some interesting properties in amazing locations and transforming them into exciting destinations and job generators,” said Paul Sanford, Asset Manager for Wincome Group. “We are really excited to elevate the Anaheim experience in the heart of Anaheim’s resort.”

The hotel will feature 613 stylish guestrooms, including 101 suites, as well as three restaurants, two bars including a rooftop lounge overlooking nightly fireworks at the resort, a state-of-the-art fitness center in tune with Westin’s wellness lifestyle, a resort-style pool surrounded by lush, tropical landscaping, and a marketplace. To cater to Anaheim’s growing demand for business meetings and corporate events, accommodations for major conventions at the ACC, the hotel will also feature 11 meeting rooms totaling 42,000 square feet of customizable and high-tech meeting space including a 16,000-square-foot grand ballroom.

The raising of the iconic Westin flag underscores the continuing improvements in Anaheim, where leisure travelers visiting the city’s famed theme parks are just one part of a larger tourism industry. “On the heels of the Anaheim Convention Center expansion, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and a number of other new developments coming online, luxury hotels are critical to Anaheim’s continued success in attracting tourists and convention business,” says Jay Burress, President and CEO, Visit Anaheim.
